Quarter 2 Week 3

Hello 3B Families,
I hope that you have enjoyed your 3 day weekend. I certainly enjoyed seeing you all in conferences. It is always nice to get some face time! This week is also a pretty exciting one. The Read-A-Thon is this week, and then Friday is a Half Day. On Friday, there will be no lunch served so go ahead and pack a few extra snacks!

Read A Thon Details

Thursday, October 31st from 12:40pm-3:05pm, 3B will be having a fun read-a-thon for the last half of the day! Students will have the opportunity to bring in a blanket, pillow/stuffed animal and a flash light from home to build a little 'tent' with their desk for their special reading nook. We will be independently reading for over an hour so please have your child bring in a book they are excited to read!
We hope to make this a fun interactive time for the students so we will also be organizing a book exchange. We ask each student to come to class on the 31st with a wrapped age appropriate book. This can be a book no longer being read from home, or the dollar store, or goodwill, it does not have to be a new book. Mrs. Stapleton will host the exchange in class and each student will be able to read a 'new to them book' during the read-a-ton. (If you have trouble purchasing/tracking down a book, please let me know, I am happy to bring extra in as needed)

What to bring?
blanket
small stuffed animal
flashlight
a book you want to read
a wrapped book for the book exchange

Academics this Week
Language Arts: We will have only 15 spelling words due to the days off and the Read-a-Thon. Please be practicing our poem: Catch a little rhyme by Eve Marriam. It is due this Wednesday, Oct. 30. Our next literature story will be The Chronicles of Narnia, but we will not begin for another week. Our reading focus is turned toward comprehension and story skills.

Math: We are working on 6 and 7 facts this week! Don’t forget to practice multiplication flashcards at home regularly! Can you volunteer for math groups Wednesday morning? Sign up on the Sign Up Genius.
